LIBRARY VINTAGES

Since 2000 we have been showcasing our family vineyard in artisan production wines. Each vintage shares a common thread of characteristics, yet each has its own personality. Over the years the wines have evolved significantly, and from time to time we supplement our original tasting notes with our most recent impressions. Here you can find our tasting notes, both new and old, as well as the occasional critical review.

2007 Vintage

2007 Oakville Cabernet Franc

Tasting Notes

The fruit aromas on both of the 2007 Deterts have a penetrating sweetness that seems to be a hallmark of the 2007 vintage. The Cabernet Franc shows gorgeous black cherry and cassis aromas. In the mouth, the core of sweet fruit is backed up by layers of dark chocolate, mocha, anise, and mineral flavors. Wonderfully balanced with a big, smooth, rich texture on an elegant and restrained frame. On the finish, notes of cedar, vanilla, sweet blue fruits and cocoa persist. Long and sophisticated.

Wine Spectator Review:

Complex and layered, showing a core of ripe black cherry and berry flavors, with notes of anise, black and red licorice, herb and loamy earth. Full-bodied, elegant and refined, gaining depth and richness on the finish. Drink now through 2016. 92 Points

2007 Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes

Incredible aromas of cassis, liquor-like black cherry and graphite. Wonderfully rich palate presence on a tightly wound core. True to our Oakville vineyard, the flavors show baking chocolate and mineral notes layered with dark fruit flavors. Very long and seamless, managing to be both massive and refined. Impressively long finish This wine is a baby with an incredible future. It can be enjoyed now with decanting and will reward cellaring.
